Most American-Made Electric Vehicles, Ranked by US Parts Content
Electric vehicles are some of the most American-made cars on the road — but not all of them. Here are the EVs ranked by the US and Canadian parts content on their federal window-sticker labels, straight from the NHTSA's 2026 American Automobile Labeling Act data.

How this ranking works
Every new EV carries the same federal window-sticker label as a gas car, listing the percentage of its parts — by value — sourced from the US and Canada, reported to the NHTSA under the American Automobile Labeling Act. The ranking below is the 2026 AALA report, electric vehicles only, sorted from most to least domestic content. Sort by clicking a column and filter by brand.
Tesla still leads
Tesla sweeps the top of the list — the Model 3 at 75%, with the Model Y, S, X, and Cybertruck close behind, all assembled in California and Texas with US-built motors and a high share of domestic parts. No other automaker matches that depth of domestic content yet.
The legacy brands are catching up
General Motors has the broadest domestic EV lineup after Tesla — the Cadillac Lyriq, Optiq, and Vistiq, the Chevy Blazer EV and Equinox EV, the GMC Hummer EV, and the commercial BrightDrop van. Hyundai (Ioniq 5 and 9), Kia (EV9), Genesis (GV70 EV), Honda (Prologue), and Lucid (Gravity) round out the US-built field.

Frequently asked questions
What's the most American-made EV?+
The Tesla Model 3, at 75% US/Canadian parts content in the 2026 AALA report — tied for the most domestic of any vehicle sold in America. Tesla's Model Y, S, X, and Cybertruck all rank near the top, built in Fremont, California and Austin, Texas.
Are legacy automakers' EVs American-made?+
Increasingly, yes. GM builds the Cadillac Lyriq/Optiq/Vistiq, Chevy Blazer EV/Equinox EV, and the Hummer EV domestically, and the Chevy BrightDrop van scores a high 66%. Their parts content trails Tesla's today but is climbing as US battery and component plants come online.
Why don't EVs show an engine or transmission?+
They don't have either in the traditional sense — an EV uses an electric motor and a single-speed reduction gear. So this table ranks EVs on overall US/Canadian parts content rather than engine and transmission origin.
How is this measured?+
It's the US/Canadian parts content by value reported to the NHTSA under the American Automobile Labeling Act — the same figure on every new vehicle's window sticker.
