WaterRower hand-builds water-resistance rowing machines in Warren, Rhode Island using sustainably sourced Appalachian hardwoods. Founded in 1988 by John Duke, a Yale-trained engineer and US national rowing team candidate, the company pioneered the WaterFlywheel — a patented tank of water that replicates the feel, sound, and natural resistance of rowing on open water. Every machine is assembled by hand at the Warren facility and built to last decades.
