Microplane
Russellville, ARFounded 1967
Grace Manufacturing Inc. makes Microplane-brand zesters and graters in Russellville, Arkansas using a photo-chemical etching process originally developed for woodworking rasps. The company has been etching blades in Arkansas since the early 1990s. A 1994 twist — a Canadian woodworker's wife used a Microplane rasp to zest an orange and word spread — transformed the tool into a kitchen staple endorsed by Julia Child and Martha Stewart. Today Microplane photo-etched blades are produced in Russellville and sold in more than 50 countries.
